What do you need to play lacrosse?

Lacrosse involves different levels of contact and is played at a rapid pace. Therefore, it is crucial to safeguard yourself on the field by using proper equipment and gear that comply with relevant safety standards.


Boys Lacrosse equipment includes....

3) Shoulder pads/chest protector that is NOCSAE certified

5) Gloves

Other required equipment are mouthguards, athletic supporters and cleats

Do different positions require different equipment?

Positions like goalie may need specialized padding and sticks. If your player is interested in trying out goalie, each team offers loaner equipment for that purpose. Additionally, certain defensive positions may utilize sticks of varying lengths, although this is not mandatory.

Where can I buy lacrosse gear?

Local retailers such as Dick's Sporting Goods and Sling It in San Rafael offer lacrosse gear for purchase. They provide "beginner packages" that allow you to acquire all the necessary equipment at a discounted bundled price. Additionally, numerous websites online specialize in selling lacrosse gear.

Does the league provide any equipment?

RCLC offers loaner equipment on a first-come, first-served basis. We strive to accommodate as many players as we can. However, we cannot guarantee the availability of loaner gear and may only have select items available for borrowing. A deposit will be required for any borrowed equipment.

What if my child doesn't like lacrosse? Can I get a refund?

We recognize that players may have a change of heart or that family circumstances can shift. Refund requests will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. For more information, please refer to our refund policy.

How often are practices and games?

Practice schedules differ based on the coach and your child's age group. Typically, most teams hold practices 2-3 times each week for a few hours. Games generally take place on Saturdays or Sundays, and occasionally, teams may have more than one game over the weekend.

What level of commitment is expected from me as a parent? Is volunteering necessary?

We do ask that all parents volunteer in some way during the season. This can be done by helping out with timekeeping and keeping score at games. You can also help by being an assistant coach, a team manager or by assisting us with our fundraising events.
